I covered all the stones with a clear spray front and back to help them stand the outside weather until someone finds them.
I wonder if this thing could catch on with other people making and leaving gypsystones everywhere. In a way it's like a cool business card with my blog address on the back of each one. No telling where it could lead to. It seems like a good homeschooling project too.

More Gypsystones

I got up this morning and as soon as my daughter left to go to a meeting and my boyfriend left to go to the dentist, I got out my painting supplies and painted some more gypsystones. I think I will start putting them in one of those little baggies before I set them out for people to find to protect them from the elements better. As soon as they are good and dry I'll sign them and spray them with a protective finish. I'm always surprised at what comes out of my paint brush. Funny the things that lurk in our subconcious mind waiting for a chance to come forward and shout, "Hey look at me."

New Rocks on the Way

We were hoping to go to Quartzsite AZ next weekend, which would be an excellent chance to leave gypsystones around. But now my bf has the toothache from hell so it looks like we are not going to get to go. And there is no way I'd want to be out in the middle of the desert with a toothache. The mere thought of it makes my teeth hurt. I'm going to paint some new gypsystones anyway just in case. I found some rocks I'd already painted the background on so the fun part is next. Maybe I'll do a spring theme since spring is just around the corner.

And if we don't go to AZ I can always leave them around the local area. I'm also making a box of finished items as give aways. So I can add some painted rocks to that as well.

The week sure went by quick. I had a lot more planned but didn't have the energy to do it. My hands are still sore from woodcarving, and so I've had to lay off the knitting and crocheting. I'm looking forward to the weekend. My daughter may visit. We'll see.

Time sure flies

I see I haven't updated this blog in quite a while. I've been very busy making art for my Etsy.com stores and working on art displays here and there. I work on crafts during every waking moment, just trying to get my name out there and make some sales. I'm also teaching at the Michael's store in Buena Park, CA. Well, I'm on my way up the coastline from Orange County, CA to Santa Maria, CA and I'm taking my gypsystones with me. Hopefully people will find them and be reading this soon. It's 5 AM and I'm hoping to beat the worst of the traffic out of L.A. so no dawdling on line.

I started these bulbs on Oct. 27,2004 expecting them to take 6 weeks to bloom, and they had their first blooms on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2004. So it took 4 weeks! Perhaps the 6 week forecast was for flowers grown indoors.

Today I made Gypsystones at a pirate event, so I suppose they are piratestones. Then I hid them around a park in Upland CA.  

Two days after planting you can see them sprouting.
